David,
FCC EiRP limits in the 3.65GHz band for the US are the primary range / coverage constraint. I can help you to understand Airspan's products for 3.65GHz (both 16d and 16e). I can also help you to understand the trade-offs between 16d and 16e. If you would like further help, please feel free to email me at ptrubridge@airspan.com.

Regards,
Paul

David,

I would suggest you take a look at Alvarion. They have launched 2 specific base stations for 3.65, all using .16e technology. They can be configured with or without MIMO, and also both transmit and receive diversity.

So for instance, you could disable MIMO and use STC with 2x Transmit or even 4x Transmit diversity to allow you to recapture the distance you may have lost by going from 16d to 16e.

I have a project involving a rural utility (in difficult - hills/valleys terrain) with a 3.65 license and funding in place.

We are currently looking at Airspan's 'e' equipment (for the past year, our engineer has really focused on Airspan (was 'd' radios) - but perhaps he was influenced that particular direction as he planned on being a distributor and selling the Airspan solution to the Utility?).

Are there other 3.65 equipment vendors I should be seriously considering? (Please list and reasons why). Does the mobility potential of 'e' overshadow (I'm told) the greater distance of 'd'?

Is there a current primer somewhere that outlines, design, servers, etc.?

Anyway, would like to make the project a success and it's difficult to know which voices to listen to (maybe the noisey ones in my head? Pizza, Pizzzzaaaa).

I'll be happy to disclose more as we go along and think there are some very interesting aspects to this project for the group.
Thanks!
David

P.S. Will try to post this in Quotes and Advice Group too

plenty of funds available, real fast. Get your map drawn with the rus mapping tool (must be %75 rural use the factfinder [will help finding it, just heard about it today att the workshops downtown Los Angeles] use census.com because funding is based STRICTLY UPON CENSUS BLOCKS CRITICAL) make sure your budget, business plan and timeline makes sense and you will get funded. incomplete applications get rejected

Things look great for Carriers/WISP startups looking to enter the market, produce and offering and build revenue with video/voice/data based upon the 3.65Ghz Semi-License and the NOFA.

The RedMAX sector controller offers highest capacity in terms of Mbps, PPS (packets per second), and # of subscribers per sector - no matter how you measure it. Secondly, the base station is 802.16d Wave 2 Certified last year in Feb. The WiMAX forum certified Privacy Sub-Layer and QoS in 16d-Wave 2. The hardware MAC supports OFDMA (up-link subchannelization), which adds approximately +12dB gain to the link budget.

What kind of services do you plan to offer to your customers? Indeed 3.5 MHz CH Size delivers 11 Mbps whereas 7 MHz CH size delivers 21 Mbps aggregate throughput. In practical deployments, the capacity constraint can be address by adding more base stations. We can help you out in planning a business case. Nomdic/Portable access can also be offered via Provisioning Server.

Incase, if you guys are looking forward to deliver more capacity to the end-user i.e., >6 Mbps per subscriber, the AN-80i MAX+ can deliver more capacity per sector (54 Mbps/sector) with QoS. For more information checkout:
