It is great that spectrum will be unleashed, eventually. But the fact is that the FCC is not doing sufficient to ensure that the spectrum actually auctioned is used. Harvesting of spectrum is a great thing, or so it would look like. Check how much o…

The involvement of FCC chief in CTIA 2009 is great. He had also said that spectrum is like Oxygen. It will also be great if he is able to provide more of it. However it seems that he is forgetting that the Oxygen is across the globe. Some of the rec…

It is quite disparaging that many developing countries already have 3G service and India does not. Countries in North Africa (Libya, Egypt, Morroco) also have fixed WiMAX. Yet one analyst has a very rosy prediction for 3G in India: India to have 275…

How could one tell the world at that time that we are now the only major country in Asia that does not have 3G yet?.It also pinches that there is no mobile TV or HDTV or digital terrestrial broadcasting. Also the fact that 4G-LTE netorks are about to be commissioned in Japan and USA does not add to any showoffs of technology which needs to be displayed at big e… Continue

Narrowbanding WiMAX in India

Narrowbanding WiMAX
5 Jan 2009

Even though such events are quite common to policy watchers and hardly ruffle any feathers, this one takes the cake for a number of reasons.

In principle we are not opposed to the… Continue
