I agree with all that, but I think having 5 MHz support is good for a roaming WiMAX world. We already have the 2.3/2.5/3.5 issue, but having also a channel size issue would decrease the probably of a successful roaming user.

I'm not going to reply on the specific question of the support in the chips.
But I will say that, 10MHz is the best way forward to achieve a triple play or quadruple play type broadband service. With 5MHz, the near term benefits may be there, but l…
I couldn't find any reference on the topic but it seems Intel is planning to drop 5 MHz channel support in many (or all) 802.16e chipsets targeted at low-power mobile stations (USB dongle, Notebook/netbook chipset, MIDs), keeping only 10 MHz.

Curious thing: I did not know that WiMAX Forum even had a program to certify FDD equipment (BS and CPE). Any other WiMAX FDD gear certified? Are you sure the Alvarian CPE is not also TDD certified?
The 16d FDD certification program was ready before…
Alvarion has a combo FDD/TDD 802.16d CPE, so one can change the BS without replacing every subscriber CPE.
Curious thing is that their FDD 802.16d is WiMAX Forum certified, but their TDD BS and CPEs are not.
TDD is required for some advanced antenn…

I take this opportunity to introduce Polaris Networks. www.polarisnetworks.net. Polaris has a long lineage of working with wireless technologies (WiMAX, Wi-Fi, RFID, wireless LAN, ATCA etc) in making test tools and protocol stacks, along with embedded software development and providing consultancy services.
Polaris is working with WiMAX technology for the last 4 years and has contributed significantly in making a PCT tester. We are providing testing services for WiMAX devices and consultancy services for WiMAX (both 16d and 16e). We are in the process of setting up a WiMAX Pre-Certification Lab in India.

Olá Rubens,
realmente eu acho que há pouca interação entre academia e indústria nesta área de WiMAX. Eu tenho certeza que os dois lados seriam benificiados se houvesse maior contato.
