Clearwire reports increased financial losses but also bigger revenues in the second quarter.

This week, Clearwire released its second quarter financial results, which showed even bigger losses in the second quarter than last year, but also improved overall revenues.

Second quarter results included a loss of $199.1 million ($1.21 per share) up sharply from last year’s second quarter loss of $118.1 million (72 cents per share). On the bright side revenue was also up, rising to $58.6 mill… Continue

The Apple App Store is now open. Apps at your fingertips for $9.99 a pop... some free.

In interviews with the New York Times and USA Today, Steve Jobs offered a few statistics:

* More than 500 programs
* 90% of them $9.99 or less
* 25% of them free
* One third of them games

In addition to games, the store is expected to offer lots of educational programs, mobile commerce and business productivity tools.

Verizon again has been saying the LTE is their 4G answer for wireless broadband and WiMAX is not ready for Prime Time. You can bet on more criticism from the large GSM companies on how WiMAX is destined for emerging backhaul applications only and its not a a true mobile technology.
