Well, i am working on WiMAX handover. You can check your topic related papers of IEEE and see what work is been already done in the area. Check if you can implement any of the paper or generate some better novel idea or show some improvement or do some analysis on performance basis or something like this. Also first you need to styudy fully all about the topic in depth. Get the maunals and documents from Wimaxforum. Hope my answer is helpful to you.

Well, i am not specifically working on PHY layer.My work is related with Network Layer and above.Anyways for OPNET,good starting point is to study documentation and related features of WiMAX.Please be specific about your study.....
