The CLEAR Spot is a powerful, battery powered wireless router and is a very useful accessory for the CLEAR WiMAX service. Using the CLEAR mobile USB adapter you can use the CLEAR Spot to create a WiFi hotspot and share that connection your friends or co-workers. Here are some simple ideas and situations where the CLEAR Spot may come in handy.
The WSJ’s Jeffrey McCracken and Don Clark reported yesterday that Clearwire has secured an additional $1.5 billion in financing to build out its nationwide WiMAX network.
The article noted, “Sprint would invest $1 billion and its Clearwire joint v… Continue
I think it will take time in Bangladesh to spread wimax technology, because all telco operators already invest huge for voice data, sms, mms communication. If any company wants to switch WiMAX they have to invest again though it’s a very good technology and faster then 42 times any others technology. I think it will take time. But if wimax provider distributes bandwidth to core district of Bangladesh from now they will be benefited. Continue
Well CLEAR WiMAX has hit the big time because Channel 2's (Atlanta) Clark Howard has officially stated his endorsement of the service. Yes, there is a bit of sarcasm in my tone but to be honest Clark Howard has it spot on. Check out the video below to see what he says about the service.

Mobile WiMAX has a short window in which to beat LTE-focussed operators to the most profitable markets for higher bandwidths. This blog uses the theory of disruptive innovation (even though neither WiMAX nor LTE is disruptive) to explain why. There's two parts, a summary at Summary: Why Mobile WiMAX can succeed in mature mobile markets, and a longer post with all of the theory at Why Mob… Continue
Hello everyone and Happy Columbus Day.
There was some interesting WiMAX news recently out of Russia that I wanted to take a closer look at today. According to FierceTelecom, Russian WiMAX carrier, Yota, said it will be offering WiMAX devices that can make VoIP calls and allow us… Continue
One of the prime concerns for WiMAX network designers is to eliminate the unwanted signals from network. Unlike traditional Single carrier/TDMA based systems, WiMAX 16e requires greater understanding of frequency allocations because of OFDMA based scheduling. Most licenses issued by the regulators around the World do not allow leverage of planning with frequency re-use patterns of 3x3x3 and designers have to persist with re-use patterns of 1x3x3.
One of the factors that influence the inter-cell… Continue
Last week I was invited to Hawaii by the General Manager with Clearwire to see a preview of the upcoming WiMAX launch. The new brand for Clearwire in WiMAX will be called Clear(TM). This was a very exciting experience because up until then I had never seen WiMAX in action. Our company has over 25 dealers actively selling Clearwire in Hawaii and their excitment was as much as mine. While it was all work and no play for me in Hawaii, I really can't complain. Playing with the products, getting a pr… Continue
Well, after a great deal of waiting, and as the commonwealth games are due in 2010, the auctions of 3G could not be postponed any longer. How could one tell the world at that time that we are now the only major country in Asia that does not have 3G yet?.It also pinches that there is no mobile TV or HDTV or digital terrestrial broadcasting. Also the fact that 4G-LTE netorks are about to be commissioned in Japan and USA does not add to any showoffs of technology which needs to be displayed at big e… Continue

Editors Note: Clearwire said they won't reveal the number of CLEAR only subs till sometime next year. The subscriber number they state in their press release is the combined total for pre-WiMAX and CLEAR subscribers.
Does anyone know what "Base station switching" is? That's CIena's stated ro… Continue
Smart antenna systems refer to a class of antenna technologies designed to improve the received signal strength in a wireless access network. The intent is to improve the carrier to-interference plus noise ratio (CINR). The use of ‘smart’ antenna technologies can both increase received signal strength and decrease interference levels to greatly enhance performance in a mobile communication network
Smart antenna technologies involve complex vector or matrix operations on signals due to the use o… Continue

I spent most of last week visiting a Cisco WiMAX customer in the Caribbean island of Curacao. Scarlet BV offers a wireless broadband service in the Nederland Antilles islands, some of the most southerly islands in the Caribbean Sea.
Curacao is the biggest of the 4 islands that make up the Nederland Antilles, still owned and governed by Holland, although with a large degree of autonomy. The population of about 130,000 is made up of 50,000 Dutch, with the rest coming from all over. The island is… Continue
With yet another launch of clear services in Atlanta, and the aggressive marketing of apple, with there price dropping of the iphone,in the same 48 hours of the palm pre launch. There just wanting to keep subscribers under contract. As there subscriber base were coming up for renewal, and to take the steam out of sprint sales, as well as to keep there base from shifting carriers. This is aggressive marketing.
I find most people use there Iphones for data , like 80% data and 20% phone and somewhe… Continue

Well, Amsterdam is for all kinds for things. One of them is WIMAX, where the WiMAX Forum, through it's partner, Informa, holds it's annual Global Congress.
It was downsized somewhat from last year, I would say about 30%. The booths were empty, because unlike other shows, Informa held seminar tracks concurrently with the exhibit hours, and most attendees decided to attend the sessions. I did have some very good conversations, and my company did actually close a multi-country deal at the show (ca… Continue
Wimax service providers generally launch with a network of resellers and over time begin to explore ways of automating the process of activating new customers by implementing a web-base Customer Activation Portal. These portals enable the resellers to capture the customer details, carry out online credit checks and select the bundle of services to be activated for the customer and accept credit card payments.
A well designed portal should be easy to use and highly scalable to allow for business… Continue
