Everything you need to know about WiMAX

Thus far, the biggest news since the Clearwire Sprint merge. Is this Clear Cisco partnership, which may well be the biggest news yet for wimax. In my last blog tittled listen up comcast get those wires wireless, i wrote about Cisco, and Comcast being able to bring lightning fast wifi to the home. Now enter Clear Comcast and Cisco. Witch is the real partnership. With these three giants invested in 4G, You can expect big news for the wimax ecospace. I think they got AT&T and Verizon;s attention now. Cisco also plans to offer its Linksys routers for home and small-office settings. The routers would bring in a signal from outside via WiMax wireless transmission mode and broadcast it throughout the location via Wi-Fi mode. I had a lot to say in that last blog and comments about these three. before the press release. The thing is people don't want to hear about wifi in this forum, like it or not, it's part of all things wireless. and the wimax ecosystem has accepted it as such.

I believe that WiMAX will organically grow and it is doing that very well so far.

(These opinions are my own and not necessarily those of my employer)

How this radio might work. And who benefits. First off catv has several power supplies, when powers out. That provide 60vac current to power amplifiers, so when cable is out, it's not taking power with it. these radios wont need back up power. This 60vac is hot even when electric co is down. That takes care of the redundant power. And that is an important issue in times of a crisis, especially for wireless communications. This radio can provide wireless to the home, when there power is out. When cable is down, the clear wimax can provide wifi to the home. On to bandwidth, as 4G really starts to gain traction, there need for speed is a critical component where bandwidth is concerned. Lets look at using all the bandwidth available. The only problem with cable is it's redundancy, It's optimized for voice and data, and 99% of the time it's working. Now if your a wireless provider wouldn't you want some extra redundancy in your network. These dual or tri band radios plugged in at the pole, could provide back haul to the nearest wimax cell from cable, to help keep cells at peak capacity full time. Now the benefit to cable. If your cable is down, you can still provide voice and data to your subscribers, in the near future when your down, clear can make your lines hot again via the wimax radio. WOW. For both sides it's a win win.

With a little catv tech background. I see Cisco building a radio that taps in at the cable the pole, where there is 60 v and mega bandwidth, This radio can be wimax and wifi, 2.5ghz and 2.4ghz, or just wifi, remember Comcast and Clear have a partnership, and with Cisco in there corner, all tings are possible. If cable goes down, and it will. this dual band radio can still perform it's wireless duties to the home. The possibiblities are endless.
